There are huge number of species that are in danger of extinction. Endangered species in Bangladesh also increasing due to lake of awareness about species that are not safe. There are no conservation steps are taken to save these species.
List of Endangered Species in Bangladesh
Caprolagus hispidus is the scientific name belongs to Mammalia class and Leporidae family. Body length is around 45 to 50 cm without including tail. Tail and ear lengths are 4 to 5 cm and 7 cm respectively. They eat shoots roots and grasses.
They face continuous decline in population due to different threats that make them endangered. Classified as endangered species in Bangladesh because they have no wide occupancy area. Their occupancy area is less than 500km2.
Conservation steps are not enough to save these species. Land water arrangement and education and awareness are some steps that are implemented by conservationists.
Balaenoptera musculus is the scientific name belongs to Mammalia class and Balaenopteridae family. They can found all around the world oceans without arctic. They can live around 80 to 90 years. They feed on krill and copepods. To fill their stomach 2,200lbs food is required. They are around 100 feet long and have weight about 200 tons. Mating season are mostly in winter season. Their gestation is about 11 months.
Biological resource use, pollution and climate change are major threat that make them endanger. Population trend is increasing but they are still listed in endangered species in Bangladesh. There are no conservation actions are taking to save these precious species. One of other major threat is commercial hunting and illegal trading of this species.
Ganges River Dolphin – Endangered Species
Platanista gangetica is the scientific name belongs to Mammalia class and Platanistidae family. This endangered marine mammals mostly found in India and Bangladesh. They are about 2 to 5 meter in length. They can heavy upto 90 kg.

There are only 1200 to 1800 individuals are remaining on our earth. This is the most endangered species in Bangladesh which is badly effected by pollution.
Pollution is the major threat that decline the population of this species. Other threats are biological resource use, natural system modifications, invasive and other problematic species and genes. These are threats that are responsible to make them endangered around the world. Only some steps are taken by conservationists like awareness about endangered species and land water protection from any type of pollution.
Manis crassicaudata is the scientific name belongs to Mammalia class and Manidae family. They can be found in Nepal, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. In Pakistan they mostly seen in Sialkot, Jhelum and Gujarat cities. In India they mostly found in Delhi, Tamil Nadu, and Madhya Pradesh. Their occurrence is lowland levels in Nepal.
Population trend is still decreasing and they are about to extinct in Bangladesh. At this time they are listed as endangered species in Bangladesh. Agriculture and aquaculture and hunting are the major threats to decline the population of this species.
Western Hoolock Gibbon
Hoolock hoolock is scientific name belongs to Mammalia class and Hylobatidae family. Here is the countries list where they can found. India, Bangladesh, Myanmar and china. They use ripe fruits as their diet.
In Bangladesh they face different threats that effect population of this species. Habitat loss, fragmentation and human interference are top listed threats that make them endangered. Due to loss of conservation steps they become endangered species in Bangladesh. Population trend is still decreasing there are only 200 to 280 individuals are remaining on our planet.
We have to take care about these species by using education and awareness method to tell people about these species that are on the road of extinction.
